Today was one for the books at CraftNBeats! We spent the afternoon at Silverbirch House Care Home, and what an amazing, warm, and inspiring experience it turned out to be. As the golden autumn sun filtered through the windows, residents, staff, and CraftNBeats gathered together for a creative session that celebrated the beauty of the season, the power of community, and the joy of creating something beautiful with our own hands.

Crafting “Autumn Glow Jars” to Capture the Season’s Magic

For this special session, we chose a project that embodies the colours and coziness of autumn: “Autumn Glow Jars.” Using dried and pressed flowers, vibrant leaves, and a touch of creativity, each participant was able to create their own unique jar that brings the warmth and glow of autumn indoors. As we arranged petals and leaves on the jars, laughter and stories flowed, and it was heartwarming to see how each resident added their own touch to their creation, transforming simple jars into beautiful, personal pieces of art.

The jars captured the colors of the season perfectly—rich reds, warm yellows, and gentle greens that, when lit from within, radiate a soft and comforting glow. As we worked, we talked about favorite autumn memories, shared a few gardening tips, and even discussed ways to incorporate different flowers and herbs in future sessions.

Building Friendships and Community

The beauty of CraftNBeats sessions is that they bring people together in a way that feels natural and joyful, and this afternoon at Silverbirch was no exception. We witnessed new friendships blooming as residents shared materials and admired each other’s creations, with everyone offering a friendly word or a helping hand. The activity not only helped everyone relax and engage creatively but also sparked meaningful conversations that connected us all.

The staff was incredible from start to finish, going above and beyond to make sure everyone felt comfortable and included. They even helped set up the craft tables, shared in the laughter, and cheered along with the residents as each masterpiece came to life.
